In case anyone needs more details: I made dried orange slices by baking them on very low heat in the oven, then used the aforementioned silver thread to make ornaments from them. If you hang the dried orange slices right in front of a light on the Christmas tree, it looks very much like stained glass. This was for our California-themed Christmas. It was fun!
